In
a recent summary and commentary by
Paul T. Stallsworth, he provides a litany of decisions affirmed at the United
Methodist Church General Conference 2000 that demonstrate a clear shift of the UMC (in
aggregate) back in the direction of traditional (or orthodox) Christianity. When you
click on the link above and read his piece, I trust you will find his work as informative
and encouraging as I did. However, I ask, "What use is a long list of beliefs
and/or rules, if they are simply ignored?"
And, I ask you, the reader, "Which of the following two
situations best describes you?"
Are you a person in a UMC conference where the episcopacy
respects the established UMC rules? If so, GC2000 makes you feel that you know just
what your UMC denomination is all about.
or,
Are you a person in a UMC conference where the episcopacy is
guided by rules that are NOT in accord with the Book of Discipline, the
Bible, or many GC2000 decisions?
If you are a person in the first type of UMC conference, please
contact your bishop and ask what type of mission trips could be planned to the Cal-Nev
Conference or the Northern Illinois Conference in order to bring the Gospel to such vast
deserts that thirst for the Truth, yet are continually deprived of God's Word. If
you could reach out to these areas of the UMC and witness to the True message of
Christianity, hundreds of thousands of UMC members could have their thirsts eternally
quenched.
Won't you please consider trying to save a UMC member
today? Contact your bishop right away and insist that he/she do
something to help the lost UMC members who are being deceived by their own conference
leaders.
If you are a person in the second type of UMC conference, please
contact every person possible to inform them of the desperate situation that exists in
your conference. You will be shocked to discover that the vast majority (perhaps as
many as 90%) of the members in your conference are completely unaware that they are a
engaged in a conference that is leading its members astray, and risking the eternal lives
of countless seemingly good people.
Yes, this message is to all of you who believe God's Word.
You each are the watchman for your fellow UMC members, just like Ezekial who heard God's
Word:
7b
So listen to what I say, then warn them for
me. 8 When I tell wicked people they will die because of
their sins, you must warn them to turn from their sinful ways. But if you refuse to
warn them, you are responsible for their death. 9 If you do
warn them, and they keep sinning, they will die because of their sins, and you will be
innocent.
