discussion thread there My son-in-law attends seminary with the son and daughter-in-law of this suspended pastor. The week after annual conference, Bishop Kammerer showed up at this pastor’s church. He preached on the inerrancy of scripture for his sermon and got a standing ovation after he finished. This probably upset our bishop, who is a staunch defender of Joseph Sprague’s theology. I also heard that some of the bishop’s family showed up at his daughter-in-law’s church two weeks after annual conference. For a bishop that gets upset at people monitoring what she says and what Joseph Sprague says, she must believe that this only applies to the laity and not clergy. I am leaving the United (Unitarian is a better description now) Methodist Church. I am tired of trying to fight the clergy hierarchy that is hell-bent on preaching radical hospitality, everybody goes to heaven, “come as you are – stay as you are” theology. The liberals seem to have no problem with organizing and infighting to force their way on the church. I cannot bring myself to stoop to their tactics. There is too much work to be done to preach salvation to the lost – I plan to support this in a denomination that actually still believes it. |
