Radical UM Feminism Meets In Debate With Traditional Christianity, Today! Debate Webcast Online

A Forum For Discussion Between the RENEW Network and the UM Women's Division

September 19, 2005

Dear United Methodist Friend of IRD:

We want you to know about a very important historic event happening in our denomination on this upcoming Wednesday, September 21.

As you are probably aware, over the years, we at UMAction have expressed serious concerns about the leadership of the United Methodist Women's Division. These concerns have included promotions by national Women's Division leaders of radical feminist theologies that are incompatible with orthodox Christianity, the active opposition of national UMW leaders to biblical and United Methodist standards on homosexuality, advocacy of taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand, and money from faithful United Methodist Women being funneled by the Women's Division to far-left secular political groups.

Recently, national Women's Division leaders have agreed to publicly engage in a "Christian Conversation" with leaders of RENEW, a network of evangelical United Methodist women who share our concerns about the national Women's Division office. Among the RENEW representatives participating in this discussion will be UMAction Steering Committee members Janice Crouse and Helen Rhea Stumbo, as well as UMAction Advisory Board member Faye Short.

This forum will take place on Wednesday morning, September 21, from 10:00 AM until noon, on the campus of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

If you do not live in the area, please plan to watch it live online at the national UMW website: http://gbgm-umc.org/umw/

If you live near our nation's capital, please make plans to attend and show your support for RENEW.

If you know of any like-minded United Methodists who live near DC, please encourage them to also attend.

More information about this historic event can be found on RENEW's website: http://www.renewnetwork.org.

Those planning to attend should both contact RENEW as soon as possible (either by calling 706/778-481 or by e-mailing renew1@hemc.net  (mailto:renew1@hemc.net) ), and then when they get to the event, ask a RENEW representative at the door for their tickets.

Please keep RENEW and this meeting in your prayers!

Yours in Christ,
Mark Tooley
UMAction Director
