United Methodists To Plant New Homosexual Churches
From the Church Within A Church Movement
As you know, one of the initiatives of the Church Within A Church Movement is new church plants. As a result of the dynamic energy for this initiative at the recent Church Within A Church national meeting in Los Angeles, we are announcing an opportunity for all progressive Christians to consider:
A Day for Discernment: Is God Calling me to be a Church Planter?"
Pre-Registration Interest Flyer
Do you believe that God is calling the progressive/inclusive church to plant hundreds of new congregations in the twenty-first century? If so, do you also sense that you may need to be a part of that movement? Elders, deacons and lay persons are invited to spend a day with us as we examine the primary tasks involved in planting a new faith community and the key gifts and skills that are present in effective church planters.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR: October 13, 2005. St. Mark's UMC in Overland Park, Kansas. 9-5pm.
Our workshop leader for this day is Dr. Paul Nixon of Easum, Bandy and Associates, and a congregational developer in The United Methodist Church. Since 2002, Paul has worked directly with about 20 new church initiatives in various stages of development in his annual conference, including pastor selection for new projects launched. He is experienced with various models of new church development. In this workshop, not only will we help you to identify basic gifts and experiences conducive to effective leadership as a new church planter, but we will also help you to discern which models may be more suitable to your leadership style.
