Gays Lied To Become Pastors
The news reports concerning the two gay Methodist pastors left unassigned (TNT, 6-18) failed to ask the crucial question: Are they "qualified" pastors?
The answer is no. One of many standards to be a Methodist pastor is "fidelity in marriage and celibacy in singleness."
Both of these persons admit they are "practicing" their lifestyle. If a heterosexual single pastor did what they are doing, he or she would be suspended immediately. Why should it be different with these two?
These two and any others who are not "out" yet have lied to investigating committees all through their processing to become pastors. They have been disqualified from the beginning and have no "right" to be assigned to a church.
