Nebraska Clergy Respond to Covenanting Ceremony for Same Sex Partners performed at First United Methodist Church in Omaha

I do not remember who asked for this but here is my letter to our Bishop. I hope it is helpful. I know there are several more going in from others across the Nebraska Conference. We are now waiting for Joel to act.

Dear Bishop Martinez:

I am writing concerning the Rev. Jimmy Creech pastor of First United Methodist Church of Omaha, Nebraska. It was reported last week that he was going to "preform a ceremony of commitment for two lesbians." I spoke with Rev. Creech today at 2:15 P.M. and he told me that he did preform the ceremony yesterday, Sunday, September 14.

Therefore, I lodge a complaint against Rev. Jimmy Creech for being in violation of Paragraph 65. II. The Nurturing Community Item C) Marriage---where the last sentence states, "Ceremonies that celebrate homosexual unions shall not be conducted by our ministers and shall not be conducted in our churches."
