Nebraska Evangelicals Win Majority Delegates - Pro-Homosexuality Petitions Die Early
This is not a detailed report of the Nebraska AC. However, it is a quick update. With the help of God, we elected the first mostly evangelical delegation from Nebraska in over 22 years. Not all of our people were elected on either side lay or clergy. But, for the laity it is almost all our people. The liberal clergy still control the conference in numbers of clergy. We believe God will work away at that base and in time the evangelicals will out number them.
The pro gay petitions I sent out over the list were all put to rest. After the first vote, which they lost, they all went silently into the night. Only leaving behind the landmines of hate for some of us to trip over. I had a number of knives stuck in my back after I spoke to hold the line on the language on the same sex sevices. Many stopped even speaking to us. The point was made yesterday on during the AC that they speak of inclusiveness and now they won't even speak to us.
It was a very interesting and spirit-filled week. We had a prayer team lead by Margie Burger of ARM praying in the prayer room all during AC. She was our speaking at the gathering on Friday. The Prayer Coordinators had churches and lay people across the state praying for each person by name during AC.
As Zec. 4: 6 says, "So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty." This is where the hope and the United Methodist Church's futhure rest. It is in the hands of God and the willingness of God's followers to wait in faith upon the power of God. Thank you God. God is good!!!!!!!
