Diane Knippers 1952 - 2005

April 19, 2005

It is with great sadness that the staff and board of directors of the Institute on Religion and Democracy announce the passing of IRD President Diane Knippers. On Monday, April 18, Diane succumbed to cancer after a two-year battle with the disease. She is survived by her husband Ed, her parents Clarence and Vera LeMasters, and her brother Doug LeMasters.

The IRD website is providing a tribute to Diane. Please take a moment and visit the IRD website. There you will find an obituary (http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?ID=M68359807180776613791565) for Diane, and the IRD press release (http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?ID=M68359757180776613791565) on her passing. There is also a collection of reflections (http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?ID=M68359877180776613791565) on Diane's life and work from those who knew her and worked with her on church reform. In the coming days, the website will provide visitors an opportunity to share their own reflections on Diane.

IRD is in the process of establishing a Diane Knippers memorial fund. More information on how you can contribute to this fund will be available in the near future.

The IRD staff greatly appreciates your prayers and words of encouragement during this difficult time. Thank you for your interest in and support of the work of the Institute on Religion and Democracy.

Sincerely,

Alan Wisdom,
Vice President
