TheMethodistChurch.com February 6, 2003 Last week I sent you a United Methodist News Service story: Appeals committee upholds decision in lesbian pastor case Here is an Associated Press story on that decision. LESBIAN METHODIST MINISTER CAN RETURN TO MINISTRY (Seattle-AP) -- A Methodist minister from Seattle who told her bishop that she's been in a lesbian relationship has a green light to resume her ministry. A United Methodist appeals committee has voted to uphold the dismissal of complaints against the Reverend Karen Dammann. A minister on the appeals committee said that instead of being punished, the Reverend Dammann should be "commended for her courage and honesty." But a dissenter on the appeals panel said they'd "made and egregious error of church law by dismissing the complaint." Donald E. Wildmon TheMethodistChurch.com |
