Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

It has become clear to me that the only effective way to reform the United Methodist Church is for lay persons to alter the present giving pattern to the institution. This means redirecting our giving from boards and agencies to ministries that are good stewards of God’s resources.

When lay persons at Christ UMC Memphis TN attempted to do this we encountered two obstacles. The first obstacle was, members thinking, we are the only church that is attempting to do such a radical thing as redirecting apportionment. The second was, there was no way to locate other churches that might be considering similar actions.

The reason for this letter is to ask for your help. I believe that it would be helpful and encouraging to lay persons around the country and at Christ UMC to have a list of other churches that have taken this step already.

If you are willing to help please send information to:

Your brother in Christ,

Don Thompson, Christ United Methodist Church
