The following is my FAX to our Bishop Joel Martinez and then his reply. April 27, 1999 Bishop Joel N. Martinez 402-466-7931 Dear Bishop Martinez:

I am writing concerning the Rev. Jimmy Creech's latest actions. When I heard last Thursday that he was planning another Covenanting Service, my heart went out to you, the Cabinet, the pastors and the churches of our Annual Conference.

I wanted you to know that I remain with you on the side of The Book of Discipline. If he went ahead with the service, I would hope that you and the Cabinet would take the next steps. However, if you wish for one of the members of the conference to file the complaint, then I believe that will be done quickly.

We need to move on to healing and not continue to keep the wound open for infection.

May God grant you wisdom and understanding.

I share these with you to say let us show our Bishop our support of his taking action. I heard that charges have been filed against Jimmy. I can only guess they came from Joel. I can't prove it. Time will tell. But, at any rate send him letters of support that he will stay the course.
