Did anyone truly expect anything less? Once your heart and mind are set on sin, then you will find a way to accomplish those desires, even deluding yourself into thinking that God is not just approving but encouraging your action. The Western Jurisdiction essentially withdrew from the UMC by its action. It is up to the Judicial Council to hold them accountable, as it is obvious that the Bishops collectively will do and say nothing, and it will be four years before GC2004.

These people have a "hearing" problem -- instead of hearing what they think is the voice of God, they are and have been listening to the voice of "another" as clearly spelled out in 2 Corinthians 11.

Why don't these people get it! They are a law unto themselves. They will not accept Scripture, Reason, Tradition, of Experience. They need to read Heb. 10:26-27 which says, "If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have recieved the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectiation of jucgment and of raging fire that will consum the enemies of God." God raised up the Methodist Church to teach, preach, and spread spiritual holiness. These false prophets at the hightest levels of our church are spreading spiritual corruption. May God have mercy on their soul, while He purges His church from their corruption.
Let us pray for deliverance Heb. 10:29- 31 " How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of Grace? For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, " The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of a living God."

I fully agree with Western Jurisdiction call for ministry to all, regardless of sexual orientation; however, I do not agree in the call for full participation in the church of anyone who sins unrepentantly and does not commit him or herself to "..sin no more". We are show Christian love those who are living in a lifestyle that is clearly spelled out by the bible to be wrong by loving them, helping them to understand their sin and by encouraging them to change. If we lead them to believe that their sin is acceptable to God, we are deceiving them and leading them and ourselves to eternal condemnation. Would we attempt to lead a known and unrepentant thief to the Lord? Certainly! Would we entrust that thief with the funds of God's church? Certainly not! If that thief repented, asked God's forgiveness and stole no more would we then trust him as the treasurer of the church? We would. Are not the souls of those whom we are to evangelize more precious than the money in the church treasury? The Rev. Billy Graham comments: "No matter how we may rationalize the practice(of homosexuality) as a viable alternative to heterosexual relationships, the reference in Romans 1 makes it clearly the product of a reprobate mind. By making this statement, I am not exonerating all heterosexual activity. As Dr. Harold Linsell has put it, 'The immoral heterosexual is neither better or worse than the practicing homosexual. Both come under divine judgment.'... When we come to Christ, we are called upon to repent of our sins and no longer to practice ungodly patterns of living we may have enjoyed before."
Some have and will challenge Dr. Graham and Dr. Linsell as they challenge the scripture on this matter. Scripture is above mortal beings. How is it that Bishops Sprague, Morrison, Swenson and others put themselves above scripture set forth in the Holy Bible? God will have the final say. To those who have been given the responsibility to lead, divine judgment which is revealed in part to us through the Holy Scriptures will be the measure; not Human Experience, not Human Reason and certainly not Human Tradition which are the three measures by which some of our leaders are choosing to diminish the significance of the Holy Scriptures.

I have nothing but the greatest disrespect for people who act in this manner. There was a legitemate vote on legitemate issues. For a group to suddenly declare that they are above this is pure nonsense. I am not a Methodist because of living in Canada, but am a member of the Anglican Church of Canada. I would hope that any body that goes against a legitemate vote should be disbarred. This is the height of arrogance!
