I think the Bishop is SICK,SICK,SICK He doesn't deserve the title of Bishop when he tries to change the Discipline, which is NOT to be changed.

God help us all if this is considered "proper behavior" for a bishop. He is to be pitied, but loved and prayed for.

We know most of the CA. 6. They stick to the word of God, the Methodist Discipline, and are loving individuals. None of them is arrogant, as the Bishop calls Kyle Phillips. It is the Bishop who is arrogant and punitive. Kyle wasn't even given any kind of opportunity to be interviewed by the D.S. or the Bishop. This is one big mess and we would support any church that decides to pull away from the UMC.

May God help us all.

As United Methodists in the California/Nevada conference wait for the "other shoe to drop" I have to wonder whether most members would prefer that the sacrifice of Rev. Phillips to the ego of (Bishop) Talbert...parentheticals mine...would suffice and everyone could go back to a "safe" existence. It is not comfortable. It is not fullfilling. But at least everyone could get on with their lives. Our society has become like the frog in a pot of water on a stove...If you gradually increase the temperature you will have frog soup before he realizes he is cooked. We have gradually allowed compromises to God's standards to creep into our lives until we do not notice how far we have gone. Case in point: have you watched any T.V. lately? It wasn't many years ago that viewers were shocked by an expletive uttered in the course of an interview and not bleeped. Today most shows make no effort to monitor their programs and we are subjected to far worse expressions and implications and subject content than would have been imagined then. This is just one area of many which we have allowed the worlds view to intrude without protest. The inaction by (Bishop) Talbert on the violation of church doctrine in the matter of officiating at services of union for partners of the same sex, as well as his inappropriate actions against Rev. Phillips as one of six Pastors who openly protested his sanctions, attest to how deep the drift away from God's Word. Pray for God's intervention to open eyes and soften hearts to return his people to His path.

To all believers who call themselves United Methodist,

Beware of who you follow, beware of what you accept as being "of God", beware of blindly following anyone who is in authority and yet under the authority of God. The United Methodist Church in in a position to be the subject of sermons across the nation as a denomination who must vote on whether or not abortion is wrong in God's eyes, or whether or not the Bible is the inspired Word of God, or whether or not man can establish what parts of the Bible (if any) is true, binding, and "suitable for teaching". Whatever man determines as being right will be judged by God and woe to any who is found wanting....not by man's standards but by God's. Beware!

It is clear that this Bishop feels he is above the law. There is an old saying Absolute power corrupts. While the Bishop has shown blatant disregard for the written word of God He also appears to be following the path of Satan who also felt He was above the most high. I will pray for the soul of our Bishop, May he even now turn away from His act of Pride and humble himself before the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

I see no reason why the members of the Western Conference need follow the Bishop any longer. He certainly does not follow the Book of Discipline nor "lead" those of us who are aware of his recent actions.
