There is no such thing as inclusiveness in the love of Christ. There is only belief in the Son of God, repentance and grace. Homosexuality is just as much a sin as murder, adultery or any other commandment. An adulterer, murderer or homosexual is not worthy to serve in the ministry of the church if he or she has not repented and asked Jesus for forgiveness.
If the Bible is not the Word of God and ALL of its teachings to be obeyed, then we are not obligated to follow any of its teachings.
I am not sinless, but I know right from wrong and I don't try to justify sin by saying that is the way I was made. I was made in the image of God and I am free to obey Him or not.
Jimmy Creech is not a United Methodist layman in spite of his claim in his Cornet letter in which he states: "I am now among the laity of The United Methodist Church".
Creech acknowledges this when states further on in that same letter: "In practical terms, I intend to become a member of a local United Methodist Church."
Since he has no membership in an annual conference as clergy, and has NOT YET joined a UM local congregation, Creech has no official ties with the United Methodist Church. I have no doubt that there are UM congregations that would fall all over themselves to have this Mister Creech as a member, but until he joins he isn't "among the laity of The United Methodist Church".
It's important to try to keep the record straight in the midst of the hyperbolic rhetoric that issues from the pro-sodomy minority in the UMC.
