Where We Stand On the Issue Of Homosexuality - Compilation Of Annual Conference ReportsFrom: Dick Dalfiume <rdalfium@binghamton.edu> It appears that the "United" in United Methodist Church no longer represents the truth about our denomination in terms of scriptural authority and adherence to the Articles of Religion and Confession of Faith. How long will the bishops remain united in silence about the yawning gap in what we profess to believe and what some in the clergy and hierarchy say they believe. The UMC has a major "credibility gap" in its institutional witness to members and other Christians. Dick Dalfiume From: George Don Spruill <donspruill@hotmail.com> Will you preside over the demise of our denomination by disregarding the clear language in Holy Scripture concerning the fact that homosexuality is sinful? The language is consistent throughout the Old and New Testaments. I ask Bishops Talbert, Sprague, Swenson, and others who have allowed the liberal element in their annual conferences to become the dominant voices; what will you tell the Father when you are called to account for your leadership of your flocks? How will you answer the questions about why you didn't reach out to homosexuals in their sin? We all are called to reach out to all sinners. By accepting homosexuals (or fornicators, adulterers, pedophiles, etc.) in their lifestyles and not trying to teach them that they are living in sin, you may be condemning them to an eternity separated from the Father. How will you account for your behavior? You may think that you are doing what is necessary to save our pitiful denomination, but you may be condemning it. Don't think that the Lord won't remove His blessing from the United Methodist Church. He may already have done that. I ask the presiding bishops of our annual conferences who haven't sold out to the prince of this world, why are you standing by while these bishops either let their conferences be taken over by the world or actually lead their conferences that way...what are you doing to stop this? Who among you are worthy to continue to lead? In Christ, <>< |
