Pro-homosexual Caucus Block Vote to Affirm Jesus Christ in North Carolina (opinion )

Promoters of the homosexual lifestyle as an alternate sexual ethic for Christians won by default at this year's Annual Conference in Fayetteville. Through cynical, political leger de main they acheived what they could not acheive through parliamentary procedure. As reported in the media the Reconciling Methodists of NC had sponsored a resolution calling for continued dialogue centering around the acceptance and affirmation of homosexual practice. Sensing the mood of the conference they were aware that this resolution would not pass.

In a brilliant, if Machiavellian move, they swayed the conference to table all resolutions -- even the Confessing Movement Resolution that would have acknowledged the barest possible Christian affirmation that Jesus Christ is Son, Savior, Lord. They maintained, with the Bishop's assent, that such a resolution would be polarizing and divisive.

Instead, all resolutions deemed "too controversial" would be sent to an unspecified group for "dialogue and discussion". THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE RECONCILING CHURCHES PROPOSED IN THEIR RESOLUTION!!! Needless to say, the "Reconciling Churches" faction was gleeful. Following this move one Conference attendee said, "They looked like the cat who had just swallowed the canary."

God help the United Methodist Church if they day has come when confessing Jesus Christ as Son, Savior and Lord is considered too divisive, too contraversial a statement to present before a Church gathering. And if that day has come, then in the words of Joshua: "Choose ye this day whom ye shall serve. But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord!"

Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:11
