Subject: Charges Dropped on Homosexual Union

The Committee on Investigation of the California-Nevada Annual Conference has dropped the complaints against the 67 pastors who conducted a homosexual union last January, 1999. The Bishop has annouced that no further action will be taken.

I am saddened by the decision since that means that pastors across the UMC are not being treated equally. This destroys our connectional system and devalues the name, "United Methodist." It will, however, give a big boost at General Conference to our desire to have a separate United Methodist conference in the Western Jurisdiction since it shows just how different the Western Jurisdiction is compared to the rest of the Methodists worldwide.
