Hope UMC Withdraws Support for Service Affirming Biblical Marriage -- Protest Moved to First UMC, Yuba City

There has been a major change in plans for Fridays ERF Press Conference and Worship Service.  [see CA Evangelicals Invite Others to Protest Mass Lesbian Wedding]

Hope UMC has backed out as the location. Everything is being moved to:

First UMC
3101 Colusa Hwy
Yuba City.

Press Conference: 11:00AM
Worship Service: 2:00 PM

We are hoping for many lay people to come to the worship service to send the message that it is not just we ERF pastors who are standing up for the UMC and its stand on this issue, but that many lay people are too!

First Church is located on 3101 Colusa Hwy. at George Washington Blvd. which is west of Hwy. 99 approximately 1 mile. On the North West Corner, Yuba City.

I have just received the above from part of the ERF team. As can be seen, our entire support for Biblical Authority and the UMC Discipline will continue but at a different location.

The backing out of Hope UMC as the location is of concern, but not unexpected when one considers all that is going on at this time.

We must rejoice in the work of the Lord and how He has provided a few to take a stand for His Word and follow faithfully in His footsteps.

As followers of our Lord, we continue to believe that all persons are of sacred worth to Him and as such deserve to be treated with dignity and Christian love. We hold true to the teaching of Jesus as He tells us we are to love our neighbor as we do ourselves and that our highest calling is to love our Lord God with all our hearts, minds, soul and strength.

A change in the location to Yuba City First UMC is a blessing in that the Lord will bring this example of faithfulness out for all the world to see and that those who have chosen political forms of resolving a spiritual problem will be shown their own shortfall in that faithfulness.

May our Lord God continue to be served by those who humble themselves before Him and may He shower His righteousness upon His servants as we hold forth His Holy Word and love for all of His creation.

We ask for continued prayer for all who are walking this narrow way in submission to His calling to search for healing and renewal within our denomination.

We ask for continued prayer for all that participate on Friday and on Saturday, that our Lord's wisdom and truth be clearly heard by all and that there be no violence or acts which demean anyone who is present.

(Esther 4:14 NIV) For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?"

In Jesus who died to make us whole.
