Homosexual Union Problem
UMC Layman Proposes Positive Action

by John C. Gardner

Here are several positive steps to take in regard to the above issue:

  1. Examine the e-mail from Confessing movement News entitled JOINING CM'S CALL FOR ACTION which contains the names of key Bishops to contact;

  2. Contact your own Bishop.

  3. Use material from the Pastoral Letter by Bishop Edwards of North Carolina which endorses a special session of the General Conference on the issues raised in the Creech Trial; Refer in your letters in numbers 1 & 2 to Bishops Edward's Letter and the Statement of the Cabinet found at These materials can be found under NEW NEWS RELEASES on North Carolina Conference webpage.

  4. Write Bishop Edwards a supporting letter for he will be under much pressure to compromise and is one of the true heros in this case.

    Bishop Marion M. Edwards
    The North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church
    1307 Glenwood Avenue
    P.O. Box 10955
    Raleigh, NC 27605

    Telephone:1-800-849-4433, (919)832-9560

  5. Present petitions to your annual conferences regarding these actions.

  6. Please pray for the executive council of the Confessing Movement here in Wisconsin which will meet today Saturday March 28 and will consider various options. I wish blessings to all of you in the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

In Christ,

John Gardner
